Fire alarm maintenance takeover
What is a maintenance takeover?
When we take over your fire alarm, we become responsible for maintaining it. Before we do that, we need to know exactly what we are taking on: what is fitted, what is working, what is not, and what has changed in the building since the system was last checked.
That is what the takeover is for. It gives you, and us, a clear and honest starting point.
Why It Matters?
- Records are often incomplete. If the previous company’s paperwork is missing or unclear, a full check puts it right.
- Faults are found early. Problems are picked up at the start, not months later.
- You can show it is maintained. The person responsible for the building needs evidence that the system is looked after. Our reports give you that.
- No surprises. You know the condition of your system from day one.

How it works

- Full service first. Before we take your system on, we carry out a full service of the whole system. We test it, record it and note anything that needs attention.
- A clear report. We explain what we found, go through it with you and ask you to sign it off. Any repairs or changes are quoted separately, and nothing is done without your agreement.
- Regular visits. After that, we visit twice a year for standard servicing and reviews, and keep your records up to date.
In line with BS 5839-1:2025, we recommend this full service at the start of every takeover.
